Run Coach Testimonials

I can tell you what I can do for you, but I believe the most compelling evidence comes from the people who have already trained with me and have achieved results. These are the testimonials of those I have been proud to work with, and they are entirely their own words. Thank you.

I first started training with Raff at the beginning of January when I was completely new to running. I had set myself a target of doing the Brighton Marathon on the 7th of April with just the intention to finish the race. Raff instantly saw potential in me and wanted to set the goal of running it in sub 4! Before Raff started coaching me, I would just go out 5 days a week and run a certain distance at whatever pace I could hold. I had zero knowledge of training and pacing. He took his time to educate me on all things running so I had a better understanding when it came to doing my marathon block. He is always available to text and would also be there on the phone to me when I needed some extra encouragement and support. The training was hard, but I absolutely loved every second of it. I loved the structure of the plan but also the feedback he would give me after my big runs. Unfortunately, 4 weeks before Brighton, I injured myself and was on rest for a little over 2 weeks. I pulled out of Brighton as I lost a lot of confidence, but Raff didn’t. He eased me slowly back into my training and built my confidence back up, and we decided to take part in the Boston Marathon on the 28th of April with only 2 weeks of training before I was tapering back down ready for the race. The day of the race was horrendous conditions with headwinds and rain. Raff sent some words of encouragement to me, also letting me know it was okay to reevaluate my pace and goal due to conditions. He came to watch me race, and this spurred me on to dig deep and to get the sub 4 we had trained for. I was able to do the race in 3 hours and 58 minutes! I was absolutely over the moon for both of us as this was an achievement for us both as it showed that the whole marathon block worked even in the terrible weather! Raff has been amazing throughout, and I can’t thank him enough. An amazing coach turned into a friend!

In October 2023, I suffered from a stress fracture in my hip. When I was ready to start running again I sat down and had a chat with Raff to see if he could help me. We started with a 7 week return to running programme in May 2024, where I was doing run/walk and gradually increasing the running each week. By the end of the 7 weeks, I was back to 3 x 5km runs a week. After that, we spoke about whether I would be able to do the Great Eastern half marathon in October 2024. There was some uncertainty in the beginning because it felt too far but we started to gradually increase the distance each week and just focused on easy runs to see how my hip would react with longer runs. Raff was always there to talk to if I had any questions or worries. He would always check in with me after my long run to see how it went and how my hip felt, and we would go from that for how the next week would be. Raff has been so understanding and supportive of my training and injury and has always believed in me. On October 13th, exactly 1 year after breaking my hip, I ran the Great Eastern half marathon, and I couldn’t have done it without the help and support from Raff. I can’t thank him enough for getting me to the start line injury and pain-free, but also for getting me around and being out on the course to cheer me on.
